Netflix’s new show

I started watching Netflix’s new show “Life on Our Planet.” There was a dinosaur on the front so of course I had to check it out. About ten minutes in or less, or more, it was clear this show wasn’t totally about ‘life on our planet,’ more like their perspective of ‘how life started on our planet.’ I believe in the Almighty, so I don’t believe in this darwinistic version of how life started, or whatever the correct term would be. I’ve continued to watch it though; I’ve got one episode left. There’s some beautiful clips of plant and animal life and the animation is pretty incredible, also, it cements my belief that the Almighty created life on our planet. The more episodes I watched the more outlandish the theory they were presenting as fact seemed. Obviously, people are entitled to believe whatever they want, but I would find it more believable if they stated some kind of being created life instead of trying to say ALL life came from one microscopic cell! Even given billions of years (I believe it’s only been thousands of years) I don’t think life would’ve ever jumped from being a plant to an animal. (Fair warning, I might go on a slight tangent because I have a lot of thoughts about this, but I’ll try to keep it short.) The example they gave was a type of anemone, I think, that broke away from itself and turned into a jellyfish…. now if this anemone was breaking away to populate other parts of the ocean or reef, I could believe that because I do believe in life evolving. Like a butterfly mimicking a poisonous one so that predators might think it’s poisonous too. But they don’t turn into different life forms completely. Plants and animals, which are just existing–living and surviving–aren’t going to suddenly reinvent themselves because they ‘need’ to walk on land or fly or live under water or to be predator or prey. To me a change like that requires knowledge beyond just existing. Whales and dolphins have come up with a way to ride waves onto the beach to catch their food, they don’t seem to be ‘evolving’ legs or land lungs so they can just get their food on land. If life was just evolving to create new species then that should still be happening in the present. Maybe they’ll have the ‘logic’ for why this isn’t happening today.

Last week I cared for the horses at the place where I’ve been taken horseback riding lessons and I’ve decided stalls aren’t very sanitary. Like many things, they’re probably not the best for people either–breathing in bedding dust and hay dust. I’ve done plenty of work with haybales and when blowing my nose afterward, the tissue is black. Ideally, I would have a structure, no walls for in summer, that they can go into if they want to get out of the rain or snow and a covered building for in winter. I’d also have a creek or river so that they have access to fresh water. In certain situations, I look at how it was in the past. Horses lived outside in the elements for their whole life before people started using them and eventually putting them in stables. My dad said they’d turn wild. I don’t know if that’s true, but I feel they’d have to have no contact with people, and I’d definitely be out there brushing them and feeding hay when necessary. I just want a horse and acres of land so I can ride bareback and pretend I’m living in a different era.

I thought my pupper, Raven, was going to be having puppies, but she isn’t showing signs yet. It might be too soon or maybe she’s only having one or two. But I hope she is because I’m super excited to see how they turn out. Both parents are mainly black but have other colorings, so I don’t know if they’ll have any other colors or just be all black.
